YESS ETR VERTICAL DROPOUT TENSIONER

Freshly released from the Yess Laboratories, the ETR-V is Yess's newest addition to its family. This tensioner is designed especially for converting bikes with vertical dropouts into a single speed. Meant for people who like to simplify their bikes by eliminating all excess gears and deraillers, the ETR-V does what other single speed chain tensioners attempt to do.

The Vertical tensioner is meant to be installed on the derailleur hanger. The problem with the current ones in the market is it is either spring activated at the mounting point or it is adjusted and fastened to the position, both has its own flaws.

The spring activated ones on the market have the issue of being flimsy, since it is only mounted on the hanger threads, it can be knocked off easily. Another problem is that there is no adjustments for spring tension (other than getting a different spring) some riders try to solve this issue by using a rubber band or a ziptie!

The ones that are fastened to the position of tension are built solid, however, it does not "float". There's always issues of tight and loose spots while pedaling because of imperfections on the sprocket or chain ring. It is never 100% round so there will always be that slight variance. Not only that, but it may be hard to get the correct chain length. Even with half-links, you probably won't be able to get the right length. This being said, the chance for the chain to come off the gears is still there and it will still pedal with inconsistent feedback.

With ours, using our old tensioner design for BMX (designed over 10 years ago) we combined the best of both worlds. It can be adjusted in multiple positions, first is fastening it solid to the hanger at two spots (Axle and Derailleur mount). Second is utilizing spring holes at different locations to adjust the tension of the pulley arm. Third is the pulley adjustment for the chain line, once in line with the chain its fastened with a set screw.
